Western painting is based on science, and pays attention to perspective, space, light source, focus etc. Chinese painting is based on philosophy, and pays attention to pen and ink, the unity of opposites in the relationships between light and shade, wet and dry, virtual and dense, dream and reality.
The use of scattered perspective, emphasizing the Taoism of nature, the oneness of heaven and man, is based on traditional Chinese philosophy.
Traditional Chinese painting has always attached great importance to life. Sketching is not realistic, but the legacy of God.
Chen’s work extends beyond exquisite traditional Chinese seals, to include nature paintings of flowers and birds. explores the beauty of common bamboo, lotus, banana trees, flame flowers, as well as porcelain roses, mandala and so on. Through the false reality of pen and ink, he expresses his spontaneous feelings and understanding of objective things. Like a finger pointing at the moon, his work points the way to the natural beauty of the world around us.
